Back in November, we launched our season competition, Hear for the Holidays.
This was your chance to nominate someone special and deserving of hearing care by simply filling out a form on our website explaining why. After receiving a torrent of heartfelt and emotional stories, we were moved by every one of them.
Not only did we enjoy reading all about your wonderful lives, but we also struggled to get through them without shedding a few tears! We know the past few months have been difficult for everyone and that many people in Northern California have been struggling as a result of the pandemic.
Through our Hear for the Holidays giveaway, we wanted to change someone’s life for the better and give them access to expert hearing care and a complimentary hearing aid.
At UpState Hearing, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to hear. Our Hear for the Holidays competition is just one of the ways we give back to the community in Northern California.
Finally, after hours of deliberating, we had a winner…
UpState Hearing is thrilled to reveal that our Hear for the Holidays giveaway winner is Brian!
Brian was invited to the clinic to receive a complimentary comprehensive hearing aid fitting, and we were so excited to meet him!

Our Winner, Brian
Brian really is one of a kind and is a true reflection of everything good about the world.
Not only is he a behavioral health counselor for the Youth for Change Program in Chico, CA, but he is also a deacon at his church and spends a lot of his time helping others.
Unfortunately, he was born with a cleft pallet, which led to issues with both of his Eustachian tubes.
But despite his hearing loss, this didn’t stop Brian from living his life to the fullest and he was even a tenor with “perfect pitch” in the Simpson University choir.
Financial constraints meant that Brian’s hearing device options were limited, and he prayed that he may be able to afford better ones.
It was a pleasure to help Brian on his road to better hearing and we welcome him into the UpState Hearing family.

After earning a degree in electronics in 1982, Ken began his career by doing hearing aid repairs. As a hearing device user since he was eight and now with over 30 years of experience fitting hearing aids, Ken personally understands the unique problems and solutions associated with hearing loss and hearing devices.
