Bryce Etzler
Chief Operating Officer
Bryce Etzler joined UpState Hearing Instruments in March 2022, bringing with her a strong foundation in business and a deep passion for helping others. Before entering the hearing healthcare field, she worked in the construction industry as an office subcontractor. Bryce holds two bachelor’s degrees—one in Finance and another in Sports Management.
Bryce was drawn to hearing healthcare by the opportunity to make a lasting difference in people’s lives through improved hearing. She thrives in UHI’s collaborative, patient-focused environment and values the team’s positive culture. Connecting with a diverse range of patients, she finds fulfillment in witnessing the life-changing impact of hearing care.
Outside of work, Bryce is a devoted mother to her son and the proud caretaker of a pet fish, Timmy 2—after the mysterious disappearance of the original Timmy. Family-oriented and adventurous, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, fishing, snowboarding, watching her son moto, hunting (her latest hobby), and relaxing at the lake. Bryce is also deeply engaged in her community. She serves on the Little League Board, volunteers with the Redding Rodeo Association, and often bartends or serves at local events from Butte County to Trinity County. Giving back is a core part of who she is, and she takes great pride in supporting the community that has given her so much.

Shalana Moten is a recent addition to the UpState Hearing Instruments team, bringing with her nearly a decade of experience in the hearing care industry. Prior to entering the field in 2017, Shalana worked as a manager in the Women’s and Men’s shoe departments at Nordstrom, where she developed a strong foundation in customer service and specialized shoe fitting. Shalana holds an Associate of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a focus on Advertising and Public Relations. She is certified in both hearing aid dispensing and specialized shoe fitting, combining technical expertise with a passion for helping others.
Driven by a desire to find purposeful work, Shalana chose a career in hearing healthcare to make a life-changing impact on others. She is committed to ensuring patients receive the care and compassion they deserve, and finds fulfillment in the dynamic nature of the role—where each day brings new challenges and opportunities to connect with diverse individuals. New to both UHI and Northern California, Shalana is excited to explore the region with her husband, three children (soon to be four), and their dog. In her free time, she enjoys sightseeing, visiting museums and theme parks, exploring nature, trying new restaurants, and—when possible—sleeping uninterrupted. A fun fact: Shalana previously lived in Puerto Rico, adding a unique cultural perspective to their journey.

Scott Morris has been a valued member of the UpState Hearing Instruments team since 2007, joining the practice after recognizing the need for an additional licensed hearing instrument specialist. A longtime patient of UHI since 1999, Scott brings a unique dual perspective to his role—combining personal experience with extensive practical and clinical expertise in hearing aid technology to provide patients with the best possible hearing solutions.
Scott is a graduate of California State University, Chico. Early in his career, he developed and managed senior service programs at Bear Valley Community Hospital in Big Bear Lake, delivering hospice care, transportation, and other essential health services to the elderly. In 1986, he returned to his roots in Weaverville to contribute to his family’s historic retail business, which has served the community’s needs since the Gold Rush era.
His commitment to community service continued through his work with Trinity County Behavioral Health Services, where he led youth development and substance abuse prevention programs across the county. Additionally, Scott worked part-time with Odyssey Teams of Chico, facilitating team-building events for Fortune 500 companies around the world. Scott’s diverse background and deep dedication to helping others make him an integral part of the UHI team, where he continues to improve lives through better hearing.

Jacob Concienne has been a dedicated member of the UpState Hearing Instruments team since January 2022, building on a career rooted in emergency medical care and a deep passion for helping others. Beginning as an EMT, Jake earned an associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Services and later became a licensed hearing aid dispenser—broadening their ability to deliver compassionate, hands-on patient care.
In addition to a strong healthcare background, Jake holds a commercial helicopter pilot license, a testament to their drive for professional growth and readiness to make a difference in any situation. This unique combination of skills reflects a lifelong commitment to service, adaptability, and continuous learning. Outside of work, Jake is a proud father of two daughters, ages 10 and 11. He enjoys backpacking, playing guitar, and creating lasting memories with his family. Whether in the clinic or the outdoors, Jake is always seeking meaningful ways to connect, contribute, and grow.

Kevin Crum has been part of the UpState Hearing Instruments team since 2023, bringing with them a decade of experience as an educator across various subjects and grade levels. With an associate’s degree in Education and a certification in Data Analysis, Kevin transitioned into the field of hearing healthcare to combine their love of science and technology with a passion for helping others.
Kevin finds fulfillment in applying their teaching background to patient care—especially when educating others about acoustics and the advanced technology used to treat hearing loss. His ability to communicate complex concepts in an accessible way makes him a valuable resource for patients navigating their hearing journey.
Outside of work, Kevin enjoys water-related activities, hiking, and playing guitar. His curiosity, compassion, and commitment to lifelong learning continue to shape his approach both in and out of the clinic.

Julia Wood grew up alongside UpState Hearing Instruments, being the youngest daughter of Ken Wood, who ran the business for over thirty years. With her natural problem-solving skills and a deep-seated passion for helping others, Julia developed a strong commitment to patient care after officially joining the family business in the summer of 2024.
Prior to her role at UpState Hearing Instruments, Julia balanced being the primary parent to her three children while working as a contract mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Now, she takes pride in being an advocate for the hard of hearing community, offering each patient thoughtful, personalized care—whether she's fine-tuning their hearing aids in the lab or assisting them face-to-face. In her free time, Julia enjoys exploring the outdoors, engaging in creative projects with her children, and playing a variety of musical instruments.

Kiara Nichols is a recent addition to the UpState Hearing Instruments team and brings a diverse professional background that includes office administration and scientific research. With a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from California State University, Chico, Kiara offers a strong foundation in organizational management and analytical thinking. Motivated by a desire to make a meaningful impact, Kiara chose to pursue a career in hearing healthcare to grow professionally while contributing to the well-being of the community. She is passionate about engaging in work that aligns with her values and supports a thriving, compassionate environment.
Outside of work, Kiara is a proud mother to a young son and the second eldest of seven siblings—experiences that have shaped a deep sense of responsibility and family connection. With a passion for helping others, Jasmine finds fulfillment in supporting patients and contributing to UHI’s mission of improving lives through better hearing. Her warm demeanor and commitment to excellent care make her a trusted part of the team.
Outside of work, Jasmine enjoys an active lifestyle that includes hiking, biking, walking her dog, and reading. She is a proud mother of two—her 16-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter—and shares her home with a dog, a cat, and a hamster.

Pam is UpState’s Lab Manager. She was born in McCloud, CA until she was three when she moved to Redding. She has 4 kids and 10 grandkids that she is incredibly proud of. Pam is passionate about what she does at UpState due to her daughter’s loss of hearing at a very young age. Hearing aids gave her daughter the ability to hear and communicate with her loved ones. When Pam is not working, you can find her riding her horses, hiking, at Church or reading.

Kloie Greenfield joined UpState Hearing Instruments in August 2024, bringing with her a strong background in the pharmacy field and a deep passion for helping others. Her transition into hearing healthcare was driven by a desire to work in an environment that values compassion, personal growth, and meaningful connection—qualities she found immediately at UHI. Kloie is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of her patients. She finds great fulfillment in helping individuals improve their hearing and reconnect with the world around them. Teresa is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and believes everyone deserves outstanding customer service. Her primary goal is to make life a little easier for those with hearing challenges, and she strives each day to bring comfort, clarity, and a smile to every patient she meets.

Allyson Prinz joined the UpState Hearing Instruments team in April 2025, bringing with her a diverse background in public service and compassionate care. Before entering the hearing health profession, she served as a 911 Dispatcher for the Glenn County Sheriff's Department. Her earlier roles included working as a Developmentally Disabled Nursing Assistant (DDNA) and serving as Director of Operations for a nonprofit organization based in East Africa—positions that reflect her deep commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
Allyson’s passion for patient care is both professional and personal. Having witnessed the impact of hearing loss on her grandparents and close friends in the Deaf community, she was inspired to pursue a role where she could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. She finds fulfillment in connecting with patients, learning their stories, and supporting them through both everyday challenges and joyful milestones.
Originally from Southern California, Allyson now lives in Paradise with her husband of three years and their English Cream Golden Retriever, Sonoma. A proud recent living liver donor, she looks forward to starting a family and continuing to serve her community with empathy and dedication. Outside of work, Allyson enjoys spending time with her family outdoors—camping, attending sporting events, fencing, traveling, diving into crafts and DIY projects, playing board games, and discovering new coffee shops.

Kassidy is our utility player at UpState Hearing. She joined the team in January of 2022 as our insurance biller, but currently is one of our patient representatives. Kassidy works part time, always willing to fill in where needed. She was an only child born and raised in Redding. Kassidy is married to Joshua and has 5 kids that keep her busy. On her spare time, she enjoys fishing with her husband and kids. Some say she is the best fisherman in the family.
