How you turn on your closed captioning depends on the platform you’re using. If you want to use it for free network television from an antennae, the CC can be turned on directly from your television’s menu. The same goes for a DVD or Blu-ray player. If you’re using a streaming platform such as Netflix, the CC can be turned on or off simply by pressing pause and choosing the SUBTITLE option in the upper left of the screen using the cursor or arrows on your remote control. If this doesn’t apply to your particular setup, simply type your streaming device and platform into a google search and instructions are sure to appear. Unfortunately, the options today are numerous and there’s no possible way to address each combination. But CC and subtitles have become an industry standard so that you’re guaranteed a simple solution despite how you access your programming.
