The CDC reports that 5 of every 1,000 children have a hearing loss that is diagnosed during childhood. The presence of an unidentified or untreated hearing loss can negatively affect a child’s academic, emotional, and social development. Hearing difficulties in children can be congenital or acquired at any age. These hearing losses can be temporary and usually treated with medicine or surgery, or can be permanent and require hearing aids, cochlear implants, or other assistive listening devices. Upstate Hearing was proud to participate in two local back to school events in Chico, CA. We collaborated with the Butte County Office of Education for their School Ties: Back-To-School Connect event and the 20-30 Club of Chico for their Back to School Preparation Spree. We were able to provide free hearing screenings to school-age students in the community to help identify potential hearing loss. We are proud to be a part of such an active and generous community.
